Vintage Booth Secrets: Old Books and Baskets Pay the Rent!

It’s another day at the antique mall… I was just refreshing my booth and marveling at how time has flown! It’s been an AMAZING three months so far! Where does the time go? We have been pleasantly surprised at how things have been going. And, we have begun to learn some very good lessons along the way. Like, most importantly, what sells and what doesn’t. I’ll let you in on some vintage booth secrets: old books and baskets pay the rent!

Now I don’t know where you’re from but in my neck of the woods, vintage books and baskets are wonderful sellers! For me, these items sell for relatively low prices like $5 to $25, but I can sell them on a very regular basis. This helps me cover my rental expense for the booth. Then all my other vintage goodies go toward my profit.

books

I’m always on the lookout for vintage supplies but I need to buy them at a low cost. So I always look for sales. My local thrift shop has a GIANT book sale every few months. You can bet I won’t miss that! I find and sell hardbound classic fiction novels, fun adventure and romance stories, along with beautiful art and nature books. I even sell bundles of old books in the same hues as a colorful decor display… I LOVE that look in my home!

baskets

I really LOVE searching for the perfect basket! They are unique, beautiful, and useful! I have sold a huge variety of shapes and sizes from casserole dish baskets with raffia fruit, to a woven wine holder basket, and even trivets. But, tray baskets are my favorite! Baskets are so popular because they are handmade from natural materials and fit many genres of styles like boho and country chic.

I keep the prices lower to draw in sales. In fact, I had just put a vintage picnic basket out on display in my booth and it sold that evening! I had to think fast and fill the space with a vintage train travel case… LOL.

So having these regular selling items has been such a huge JOY! These lower-priced goods have brought me a lot of new customers and helped me cover my booth costs each month. And as people keep finding me, my sales keep increasing… it’s HAPPY DAYS mate!! So, let’s all visit our favorite vintage store! Let’s decorate with gorgeous baskets and books! And, most importantly, let’s get HOMEY!!!
