Unique Vintage Treasure Hunts This Summer: Oh What FUN!
This time of year I’m always getting revved up and raring to GO! Where am I going in such a hurry? In search of merch of course! I decided I was going to be more adventuresome and try unique vintage treasure hunts this summer by adding some different venues to explore. I typically travel to flea markets, garage sales, and estate sales but I wanted to add a few new places to my repertoire. My friends and family are always raving about our urban market, as well as our suburban farmers markets, so I decided it was time to check them out.
Urban Markets
This is the best time of year to search for vintage goodies! There are many, many sources available. For instance, our city has an urban market once a month with several vendors. This month it was held in Washington Park in our downtown area. It’s called the City Flea and showcases handmade items, plants, unique clothing and goods, as well as a little bit of vintage.
Music Hall makes an amazing backdrop for this special outdoor event… the weather was perfect!
I made a beeline right to this amazing booth! It had oodles of great plants and vessels. And some were even vintage!
I brought home a winner! A ceramic soup tureen with a pretty ivy plant! It fits right in with my dining room decor!
farmers markets
Okay, I know what you’re thinking… vintage items at a farmers market? Well, at my local market, I found just that! Farmers markets are everywhere these days and everyone is a little bit different. You never know what you are going to find!
Besides getting fresh veggies one thing I LOVE to look for are potted plants and locally grown flowers.
A few weeks ago I was pleasantly surprised to find a young man selling tiny plants in vintage cups. I couldn’t resist these baby succulent plants in a ceramic creamer… it’s the cutest little thing! It really brightens up my kitchen windowsill!
try something new
You never know which path will lead you to vintage treasures. But I’m sure glad I thought outside the box and took the time to encounter something new. Urban markets and farmers markets are very fun places to explore. The best part is I never come home empty-handed, because even if there aren’t any vintage items in sight I treat myself to a plant or a bouquet of fresh flowers. As soon as I get home, I pair them with one of my own favorite vintage vessels and that always makes me smile! So let’s get adventuresome! Let’s support our local markets! And most of all… let’s get HOMEY!
