Spring Inspiration for My New Flower Garden

Have you ever needed motivation to get started on a project? Golly! This year I sure did! I kept looking out my kitchen window at the remains of what used to be my floral oasis. My garden was in a desperate state but I kept putting it off and putting it off. It was already June and I hadn’t planted one thing. I lacked the energy and the enthusiasm. A field trip was just what I needed, so I headed straight to my favorite scenic garden park. It was time to get spring inspiration for my new flower garden!

my garden last year

I’m not entirely sure what happened. All I know is that while other trees and blooms were sprouting, thriving, and enjoying the sunny spring days my beloved patio garden plants and flowers were not. In fact, it was worse than that… there were hardly any plants and flowers! It was quite a shock to realize that the only things that survived were two hardy hostas in pots and some sturdy ground ivy. It seems that the winter temperatures had taken a toll on just that corner of the yard, and I would have to start completely over if I wanted to recreate my small paradise.

my garden now… starting over

It was quite a blow, but I needed to move forward… where to begin? Should I recreate the garden that once was or take this opportunity to try something different? Should I add new varieties of foliage and perennials? I needed to start somewhere. Taking a nature walk through gorgeous botanical grounds is exactly what I needed to spark my creativity and BOY did it work!

A start of something new

Even though my new patio garden is a slow work in progress. I’m overjoyed with the improvements I’ve made so far! It will be a long road to get it back in tip-top shape… but that’s OK! The important part is that I found my spark and I got started! When you have a difficult project, it can feel daunting, but it’s actually easy to overcome with just a little inspiration!! Don’t give up! I’m feeling blessed and quite happy with my new little slice of heaven in my own backyard. So, let’s get inspired! Let’s get planting! And most of all, let’s get HOMEY!
