My New Thrift Store Fantastic Furniture Finds!

A pile of beautiful vintage wooden furniture all stacked up in a garage: chairs, round end tables, dressers, mirrors and baskets.

Oh, my poor garage! It is overflowing yet again but this time with my new thrift store fantastic furniture finds! When I’m out and about at second-hand shops I keep my eyes peeled for unique wood furniture pieces. However, in the past month, I may have gone overboard! Two posts ago I wrote about some very special vintage finds that I purchased from a thrift store, mostly ceramics. But actually, I do collect furniture as well. Some I keep for my own home and some I plan on selling. And I am truly amazed at what fantastic furniture finds are out there just waiting to be rescued!

Second-hand but not second-best

When I’m on the lookout for real wood furniture… I’ll confess that retail shops are NOT the first place I shop… or the second or third! In fact, I LOVE heading straight to the thrift shops! Whether you call them thrift stores, second-hand shops, or consignments they all mean one thing… BARGAINS! And getting a bargain doesn’t mean it’s cheap furniture that’s falling apart! Oh my no! I find unique vintage pieces that add character and charm. I look for items made out of real wood with great details and craftsmanship! I can find vintage furniture at antique shops as well, but I’ll be paying double or triple the amount!

This vintage kitchen chair made of solid wood with a woven seat gives warmth to any room, and at $7.99 the price warmed my heart! And, along with my plethora of pretty Easter baskets, I’d say I had a successful day of shopping!

This round end table has metal-tipped claw feet along with a gorgeous lion head drawer pull. I bought two for $19.99 each! And, these weren’t my only bargains… the vintage wood-framed beveled mirror was an absolute steal at $2.99!!!

Don’t be afraid to buy a piece with a little wear. Even with their imperfections both of these round side tables ooze charm and character!

let’s get going!

I am always shocked when someone tells me that they have never been to a second-hand shop before! And I always reply, “What are you waiting for?… TRY ONE!” Some are better than others but you’ll learn pretty quickly which ones fit your style and budget. Sometimes it’s slim pickings and sometimes I hit the mother lode! And, buying used high-quality furniture also helps the environment… renew, reuse, recycle! So let’s save money, let’s go thrifting, let’s look for fantastic furniture finds, and most importantly, let’s get HOMEY!!!
