Happy Vintage Fun Finds That Remind Me of LOVE!

A collection of vintage bride and groom wedding cake toppers from the 1930s, 40s, 50s, and 90s. Some are made of plastic, chalkware and porcelain.

Love is in the AIR!! And after last week’s valentine home decor craft, I STILL have LOVE on my mind! I started to think of some of my nifty retro collections, especially the ones that have a love connection. This would be the perfect time to bring out and display some vintage items for Valentine’s Day, like wedding cake toppers, ceramic lovebirds, and candy tins. So, this week I thought I would share some of the happy vintage fun finds that remind me of love!

A bride and groom cake topper from 1991 made of plastic with white tulle flowers. It's displayed on colorful vintage floral tins with daffodils in the background.

wedding cake toppers

My most obvious trinkets that ooze romance are my very vintage cake toppers! I remember deciding to collect them the moment I first saw the one from my mother-in-law’s 1960s wedding cake. It was fantastic! I had never seen one before. The bride had a full satin cream-colored gown, a flower bouquet, a belt to match the dress, and a flowing tulle veil to top it off! I just loved it! And she passed it down to me and it became the pièce de résistance in my very own collection. I’ll cherish it always! I have procured many loving couples since then but my favorites range from 1930s porcelain to 1991 plastic, and I just love the 1940s chalkware.

lovebirds

There is no denying it… I’m obsessed with LOVEBIRDS! And lovebirds always make me think of young love and Valentine’s Day! Young love… there is nothing better! Lovebirds are so sweet and cheery! I have them on vases, planters, wall pockets, and even as salt & pepper shakers.

candy tins

Of course, when you think of Valentine’s Day you think of love… well my heart thinks of love but my stomach thinks of candy! And, vintage candy tins are dandy! They are not only colorful and pretty but they are very useful! I use mine for all sorts of things: oil pastels, sewing supplies, and even as a keepsake holder!

So, in these cold winter weeks, I’m excited to pull out my warm lovely memories and put them on display for Valentine’s Day.  Whether you have wedding cake toppers, lovebirds, candy tins, or other special treasures, why not share them in your decor?  So let’s all get ready for Valentine’s Day… craft a valentine cake out of cardboard, display those vintage items, and get ready for the day of LOVE… and as always, let’s get HOMEY!!!
