Recently I seem to have shorebirds on my mind… a lot!  In fact, I’ve had shorebirds on my mind for the past couple of weeks! I found a giant painting on an online auction site of a Great White Heron. It’s not a blue heron, I know, but it’s pretty close… and I LOVE IT! I also purchased some fabulous bird books with some beautiful Audubon illustrations of shore birds as well. And then, it just dawned on me… the blog is coming up on its first birthday! WOW, has it been a whole year? So join us in celebrating a terrific year of Homey Blue Heron! Hip Hip Hooray!

new blog

This year has flown by and I CANNOT believe that it’s already March!  And it was just one short year ago that Homey Blue Heron blog was hatched! My husband and I had been toying with the idea of starting a blog for some time but it always seemed to get swept under the rug. It’s one thing to come up with this concept, but it’s a whole other thing to actually bring it to life! We had no idea what we were getting into. Oh, I’ll be honest I was definitely NOT computer savvy, not even close… I wasn’t even on any social media! So the moment we started to create the blog my whole world changed!

New endeavor

Homey Blue Heron has melded into quite an endeavor indeed… complete with my own business cards! Who knew that not only would we be blogging a weekly post, but would be starting our own eBay shop selling vintage fun finds, as well as becoming vintage vendors in a gigantic antique mall! I now have my own Instagram with over 5,500 followers and have almost one million views on Pinterest! I am incredibly thankful and excited about where this journey has taken me! It’s allowed me to be creative and share my love for all things artsy and vintage with YOU!

New merchandise

I am extremely grateful for the Homey Blue Heron blog along with ALL of YOU! And because of that, I wanted to celebrate by providing some new giveaways to our subscribers. So, with the help of my wonderful and talented son-in-law, who was able to transform my heron logo, we now have some special blog merchandise. So, starting in March, I will be randomly picking subscribers and sending them either our newly-created Homey Blue Heron earrings (what??? Yes, that’s right!!) or a Homey Blue Heron sketchbook that you can use to capture your inspirational sketches, thoughts, and ideas!

New year

So stay tuned… this year is surely going to be FUN as we plan to add some more features to the blog and have more giveaways! So, Happy Birthday HBH! Let’s put on our party hats! Let’s celebrate with Mr. Blue! And, let’s get HOMEY!!
