Beautiful Mother’s Day Orchids : Fun Find of the Day

Beautiful Mother's Day orchids with giant white blooms displayed with bright green house plants.

Sometimes unexpected gifts are the best gifts. In all the hustle and bustle of my crazy week, I truly forgot it was Mother’s Day. And how wonderful it was to be surprised by my kids with an amazing white orchid plant. And can you believe these beautiful Mother’s Day orchids came from our local grocery store!…incredible!

When picking out houseplants most people I know avoid orchids altogether. They think they are pricey and impossible to take care of. But, I have found that’s not always the case. Every now and then I get a dud which will lose its blossoms quickly. But, for the most part, if you water them weekly the blooms will last quite a while. Once the blooms fall off, keep watering them weekly. Green spikes will sprout out and in a few months, more flowers will bloom again. If you need further guidelines there is some great information online.

Orchid blooms are dramatic and elegant. They can add a tropical vibe to any room. In the sunroom, my new gift looks especially festive and brings interest and brightness to the space.

I even have an orchid plant in my kitchen. Which has continued to flower for over a month now! Incredible beauty…incredible value!

If you’re like me you’d rather have a house plant versus cut flowers and these beautiful Mother’s Day orchids were actually both… plant and blossoms. So, if you have never tried to grow one what are you waiting for? Just search the floral department at your local grocery store. They come in so many varieties and colors. Bring a bit of the outdoors in. Mix them in with your favorite houseplants and enjoy!
