A Fall Flea Market Extravaganza: What an Amazing Time!

A beautiful sunny day with blue skies at the Springfield Antique Show and Flea Market with booths, tents, shoppers, and many decorative fun Fall finds!

When September comes around I have one thing on my mind…it’s time for a field trip to the Springfield Ohio Antique Show. It’s a Fall Flea Market Extravaganza! If you have never been to a flea market, then you haven’t lived! Normal flea markets are amazing BUT an extravaganza is heavenly…over the top with 2000 vendors. I can’t even describe my first reaction. I felt like a kid in a candy store and then some! Surrounded by vintage goodies and more! I didn’t know where to start first…so we just dove right in and loved every minute of it!

Located on the Clark County Fairgrounds the Springfield Antique Show and Flea Market has been going strong for many many years! Two times a year they offer an Extravaganza – once in May and once in September. It’s one of the largest flea markets in America, attracting 20,000 customers over a three-day weekend. And, seven times a year they offer a smaller flea market with vintage, antiques and quirky fun finds. There are both indoor and outdoor vendors. It’s a sight to behold!

something for everyone

My flea market treasures

We were pretty selective in our shopping because I only bought what would fit in my handy dandy wagon. But that being said, my daughter and I felt super successful! We were very happy with our latest treasure finds! A few of my favorite purchases from the weekend included a 1960s RCA pale aqua clock radio, a few old wooden frames, a hand-carved duck, plus two vintage ceramic pieces. You know I have a weakness for vintage pottery! The planter is 1950s Robinson Ransbottom Pottery and the vase is 1940s Gonder Pottery. Both companies were based in Ohio.

Even though I so enjoy antique shops and auctions, there is just something extra special about a flea market, especially an Extravaganza! At this year’s Fall Flea Market Extravaganza in Springfield Ohio, there was an amazing excitement about the whole place along with the energy from the crowd. We were all anticipating something…something unique and inspiring. It’s the thrill of the hunt I suppose, along with the element of surprise! It’s sort of hard to put into words, you just have to try it and see. In the end, a great time was had by all! We had a ton of FUN…and we are already looking forward to next year!
