3 Decor Things I Love: From My Summer Searches

It sure is hard to get into the fall mood when our days have been gorgeous and in the 90s! summer is still here…at least for a few more weeks. And, I’m thankful for it because I’m not really ready for fall! I’m still enjoying my pool and all the sunshine…and I’m enjoying all my FUN summer finds as I look around my house this morning. So, today I’m sharing what brings cheer into my world of decor…three decor things that I love because they remind me of summer!

#1 Fun finds for my hutch

I feel like this summer I had some extra good luck when hunting for special finds. And one thing I was definitely on the hunt for was McCoy pottery. I do love colorful pastel vintage ceramics. And as luck would have it I found a few good pieces. My goal was to spruce up my china cabinet and its contents. It needed a little lift and rearranging. And after adding a tad more color and a tad more McCoy…Voila…It’s a happy hutch now.

#2 Festive Finery

Speaking of CHEER…when the light streams in my sunroom it puts me in a very good mood. And when I set the table for a fun summer get-together, I like to use my 1950s Noritake Bradford dishes and my fancy wine glasses. My McCoy came to the rescue again when I found this 1940s yellow beehive pitcher. It looks super festive with my new Gorky Mexican platter (a gift from my Aunt) and my golden votives that add extra sparkle.

#3 Feathered Friends

I have an ongoing collection that I started a few years ago…wooden ducks. I got lucky this summer and found a mini one in a local antique shop right off the bat. But then, after a few months of searches, I came up empty-handed. Gee whiz!…they must be a super popular item! So after I gave up, I was doing a quick look on Amazon just for the heck of it…and would you believe I actually came across two small wooden ducks (paid link)! And they look GREAT with my original decoy alongside my daughter’s handmade horse sculpture….now that’s JOY!

So Long Summer…

So the three decor things I love helped me keep summer in my heart all year long! For me, there is always a bit of sadness when summer ends and fall begins. I’m not sure why I get a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach when I think of shorter days and colder nights. But I won’t worry because, in a few weeks, I’ll turn it around and embrace autumn like I always do. But until then I’ll enjoy the last days of warm sunshine and one more glorious flea market (Springfield Ohio Antique Show and Flea Market)! So what is your mindset? Are you already celebrating fall or are you still smitten with summer?
