This week we are continuing with 10 simple fall decor ideas for a fantastic look. With an emphasis on keeping it SIMPLE and budget-friendly. I am hunting and gathering some natural elements, making sure to bring a bit of the outdoors in. Last week I talked about gourds, autumn wreaths, woven baskets, wood elements, and branches. This week I’m adding the next five ideas starting with some easy-to-find natural elements.

A close-up view of a yellow wheat wreath hanging on a china cabinet. The inside of a china cabinet painted Spring green on the inside displaying stacks of white dishes, white vintage ceramic vases, and cake stands. Also in the hutch are wooden carved birds and wooden bowls with mini pumpkins.

Nothing beats FREE decorating supplies! I hope you are as fortunate as me to be able to hunt and gather in your own backyard or neighborhood. I’m very lucky to live in a neighborhood with massive mature trees. I have access to a few different varieties of oak trees and pine trees. And believe me, when it comes time for fall, I take my daily walk with a brown lunch bag to collect all my findings…acorns, pinecones, and leaves! I have no shame!

One of the simple fall decor ideas is to use acorns. A close-up view of a few large Bur acorns with their fuzzy caps and a few dried fall leaves.

#6 pinecones & acorns

Pinecones and acorns just like gourds, they go with everything! Just a few of them here and there on the windowsill, or shelf, or in a bowl. They add a touch of fall flare without overdoing it! Lucky for me I have kind and wonderful neighbors who don’t mind if I forage for pinecones and pine branches in their yards! And one of the best parts is I can use the pinecones for Christmas decor as well!

One of the simple Fall decor ideas is to add pinecones to your home. A stoneware large bowl with a light green glaze stuffed with freshly collected Whitepine pinecones displayed with dried Fall oak leaves.
A stack of vintage books in muted colors with a sprig of dried hydrangeas resting on the top. Also displayed are large Oakleaf hydrangea leaves, and a small rustic wooden duck decoy sitting on a vintage book with a few plump acorns.

#7 Seasonal flowers

Nothing gives you a pop of color like seasonal flowers. But by the time autumn rolls in, my spring planted flowers have pretty much petered out. I have a few sedum blooms and dried hydrangea blossoms left that I like to mix with some store-bought flowers. Again my local grocery store comes in handy! A few sunflowers and mum sprigs mixed with dried pine branches and oak leaf hydrangea leaves from my yard really convey the feel of the new season.

#8 Fruit

Apples are synonymous with FALL to me and since there are no fruit trees lining our local streets, I do have to depend on my nearby grocery store. But what a great deal to buy a bag of apples and use them as a display…they are long-lasting, colorful, and economical. I display mine in a vintage stoneware bowl and a fancy ceramic planter.

#9 Books

I’ll tell you what…new or vintage BOOKS really are a fun display element for me. But for a more cozy autumn look, I go for old vintage books. Their muted colors add such warmth especially if the covers are well-loved and worn. A stack of books can make a great pedestal to display fun fall items.

#10 Vintage

Did someone say VINTAGE? Of course!! I am a lover of vintage treasures, and for me, these special items are perfect for displaying all things fall. I use baskets, wooden bowls, books, stoneware jugs, and bowls. They have an “aged feel” that adds a cozy feel like Grandma’s house. You don’t need to overdo it, just a few pieces can create a homey vibe.
