Part 1.

A few short branches of green and rust-colored oak leaves are displayed with a landscape painting of a wheat field and a large vintage green crock bowl loaded with pinecones.

Here we are already a few weeks into autumn, and I’m still easing into my decorating and enjoying every minute of it! And as I’m hunting, gathering, and rearranging, it occurred to me that I should share some of my favorite things that I like to incorporate into my decor that really put me into the FALL mood. So I made an easy list of 10 simple fall decor ideas I love for a fantastic look!

First things first, what I always strive to do is keep things simple! That’s super important to me. I don’t like to overpower my home during the holidays (budget-wise or space-wise). I like to use what I already have. I shop my own home and yard as much as possible. I also love bringing the outdoors in so using natural elements from my own yard and my neighborhood is a must! This keeps the cost way down! However…true confessions…I did purchase a few items but I was thrifty and stayed on budget. So…without further ado, here is Part 1 of my Top 10 List.

#1 Gourds

GOURDS! How wonderful are they?! If you don’t have time to hunt and gather, or browse your local antique shops for fall decor… you can do this one EASY thing which will make all the difference! Just add pumpkins, gourds, or some squash. Nothing says autumn like colorful mini pumpkins and they look amazing in any room. I even added these large green speckled swan gourds to my art room! They are so fun and so sculptural… I’m in LOVE!

#2 AUTUMN WREATHS

Wreaths are super versatile. They can be used as a centerpiece on a table, or hung on a front door or wall. My favorite way is to hang one on my white china cabinet. My tall hutch holds a lot of white pottery so adding some color is essential to warming the space for fall. Even the subtle yellow of this wheat wreath pops!

#3 Woven Baskets

Woven Baskets! I was just on a mission to find baskets for a home project when this vintage rectangular basket caught my eye! I found it at a nearby antique shop and at $9.99 I just had to say yes! My white sunroom table was crying out for a hint of rustic charm and warmth. My other new purchase this season was a beehive basket I found at Target. It was only $5.00…enough said!

#4 Wood Elements

Wood Elements are always inviting in a home! For me, it’s another way to bring the outdoors in. Wood gives a natural warmth to any room, especially in the fall. My wooden bowls and wood-carved birds just add the perfect touch of homeyness.

#5 BRANCHES

Branches are a must! On one of my hunting and gathering trips, I found a bunch of lovely White Pine needle branches. They look very fallish in their faded rust and they add such movement, softness, and height to my display. The pine branches are fantastic because they last such a long time! But I do like using Oak Leaf branches as well. The Oak leaf shape itself is a perfect reminder of autumn.
